Viral video of Ranveer Singh urging people to vote for ‘nyay’ is edited, made using AI technology. He was seen praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the viral claim is false.

Earlier this week, a deepfake video of the Bollywood actor Aamir Khan made its way on the social media websites asking the people to stay away from ‘jumla’. Aamir Khan later clarified that he has not extended support to any political party. The purported 27-second clip was edited and made using artificial intelligence (AI) technology. Another such video of Indian film actor Ranveer Singh has also come to fore, where he is seen saying, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is here to celebrate all the negatives of the society, that includes unemployment, inflation, because India is moving towards Anyay (injustice) era. But we must ask for justice. At the end the post urges people to vote for Congress.

Investigation:

We started our investigation by searching this video on the platform of ANI.

The 2 minute 33 second long video of Ranveer Singh was uploaded on ANI’s X handle.

He was seen talking about the energy of Kashi and how he would love to bring his family members next time. He says that the purpose of Narendra Modi was to celebrate rich cultural heritage and legacy. India is now going towards modernity.

We also found various news reports, about Ranveer Singh and actress Kriti Sanon being in Kashi for fashion designer Manish Malhotra’s show.

In the next step of investigation we uploaded the audio from the widely shared video with false claims, in the AI detection tool developed in collaboration with IIT Jodhpur, itisaar.ai.
