Lighthouse Journalism came across a 9 second video clip of Rajasthan MLA Dr Kirodi Lal Meena being widely shared on social media platforms. In the video he was allegedly seen saying, “If BJP wins 400 seats, then Modi will not only end the reservation but also change the constitution.” During the investigation we found the viral claim to be false.

Investigation:
We started the investigation by running a reverse image search on the keyframes obtained from the video.
We found a one minute clip uploaded on the YouTube channel of First India News 2 days ago.
In the video Kirodi Lal Meena said, “Congress is misleading people by saying that if the BJP party wins 400 seats in the general elections, they will not only end the reservations but also change the constitution.” He further said that the rumours are being spread across the country and Congress is doing this to gain peoples’ vote. PM Narendra Modi himself said in the Badmer rally that even if Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar comes today, he won’t be able to change the constitution. Amit Shah too said that nothing will be changed about reservation. He urged at the end of the video to vote for BJP candidate Om Birla.
In the next step we checked Kirodi Lal Meena’s X handle.
We found that he had issued a clarification about his statement. He said that his incomplete statement is being shared on social media and if fake news peddlers don’t stop doing such activities, he will have to take legal action.
We also found a tweet by BJP Rajasthan X handle which clarified that BJP leader Kirodi Lal Meena did not give the viral statement.
Conclusion: Rajasthan BJP leader Dr Kirodi Lal Meena did not say that if BJP wins 400 seats, then PM Modi will end the reservation and change the constitution. Viral video clip is edited and the claim is false.
