Lighthouse Journalism came across a video being shared on social media platforms. It is claimed in the caption that the video is from the Nepal parliament and that the Indian Prime Minister is being criticized in the neighbouring country. We found out during the investigation that the video is old and from India, not from Nepal as claimed in the post.

Claim:

X user Saleem Khan shared the video on his profile.

Investigation:

We started our investigation by uploading the video in the InVid tool.

The reverse image search led us to a Facebook profile where the video was uploaded.

The title in Hindi was: किन्नौर से कांग्रेस विधायक जगत सिंह नेगी से देश के महान व यशस्वी प्रधानमंत्री के बारे में सुनिए…

The video was uploaded on the Facebook profile of Indian National Congress – Himachal Pradesh on 21st March 2021.

Jagat Singh Negi is Minister of Horticulture of Himachal Pradesh.

We also found this video uploaded on the YouTube channel of News Mx TV three years ago.

The video was also carried by the YouTube channel of Live Times TV Himachal three years ago.

Conclusion: Old video of Congress MLA from Himachal Pradesh, Jagat Singh Negi’s remarks on PM Narendra Modi recirculates as recent video from Nepal Parliament. Viral claim is false.
