Bollywood actress Lara Dutta is in news for lauding Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in several of her interviews. However, amidst this an edited post is being widely shared in the name of the actress where she is also seen making comments on the ‘bar dancers’, Lighthouse Journalism found the post to be edited. Viral claims are false.
Claim:
X user Pradeep R Rawat shared the viral screenshot of a newschannel’s graphic post on his profile.

Investigation:
In the first step of investigation, we checked the graphic thoroughly.
The graphic was carried by News 24. Hence, we checked the X profile of News 24.
We found that News 24 had carried the graphic on their profile on 25th April, 2024.
Here we could clearly see that the viral post is edited.
We then checked if there were any news reports on the same.
We found a report on Zee News website.
The report mentioned that the actress Lara Dutta has supported PM Narendra Modi. We also found several other news reports on the same.
Conclusion: Viral graphic of Lara Dutta’s statement is edited, she did support PM Modi but did not give a statement, mentioning the term, ‘bar dancer’, viral claims are false.
