Lighthouse Journalism came across a video being widely shared on social media platforms. It was being claimed that a group of people were on streets to counter the farmers’ protest and in support of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After investigation we found that the video is old and people marched in support of the Citizen Amendment Act (CAA).
Claim:
X user Crime Reports India shared the viral video on his profile.

Investigation:
We started the investigation by listening to the video carefully. The chants in the video were, ‘lambe lambe lath bajao’.
We then did a Google search on the term and found a video uploaded on Facebook profile, ‘Awakened Bharat‘ on 25th December 2019.
We also found the video uploaded on the YouTube channel of Hindustan 1st News.
The description mentioned that the video is from a CAA support rally taken out in Haryana.
We found a news report in Hindi too about it.
In this news report there was a tweet by Jawahar Yadav, chief spokesperson of BJP, which mentioned that the video was from Haryana. However, a user mentioned in the comment section that the video was from Delhi and not Haryana.
Using the terms we again ran a Google search to check the video. It was then that we found a video on Facebook, where the people are seen chanting, “Delhi police latth bajao hum tumhare sath hai”.
The video was posted on 25 December, 2019.
We then found news reports that had carried the reports of the video being from Delhi.
We also found, ‘Lata Saree’ written on one of the shop front and one video shared on Facebook mentioned that the rally was taken out from Laxmi Nagar in Delhi. Hence, we used the search term, ‘Lata Saree, Laxmi Nagar, Delhi’ in Google maps. This led us to the exact street where the protest took place.
Conclusion: Viral video claimed to be from recent farmers’ protest is that of a rally taken out in support of CAA in Delhi in 2019. Viral claim is false.
