Fact check: Old video peddled as recent from PM Modi’s rally in Rajasthan

A video from Jalore, Rajasthan, taken in 2019 is currently being misrepresented as recent footage from a rally held by PM Narendra Modi in Rajasthan. Viral claims are false.

On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a public meeting in Rajasthan. PM addressed public meetings in Jalore and Banswara, he also took a jibe at the Congress leadership. After his visit to Jalore, a video of a massive crowd was shared on the social networking platforms, claiming to be recent from PM Narendra Modi’s visit. During the investigation we found the video to be old, from 2019.

Claim:

X user Sunil Bishnoi BJP shared the video on his profile.

Investigation:

We started our investigation by checking the comment section of all these posts.

The users pointed out that the video was that of a Congress meeting that took place in Jalore.

In 2019, Rahul Gandhi had visited Jalore.

The video was taken 4 years ago, from 25th April, 2019.

The description mentioned: रामसीन का यह आज का वीडियो देख लो चुनाव में जालोर से कौन जीत रहा है पता पड़ जायेगा।

Translation: You will soon know who is winning in Jalore. These are visuals from Ramseen.

We also found the video uploaded on Facebook on 25th April, 2019.

There were other posts also of Congress leaders visiting Ramseen and also that of the Congress rally.

However, we also found a few videos from Jalore uploaded around the same date in 2019 from a BJP rally in Jalore.

Conclusion: A video from Jalore, Rajasthan, taken in 2019 is currently being misrepresented as recent footage from a rally held by PM Narendra Modi in Rajasthan. Viral claims are false.
