Lighthouse Journalism came across a video in which a man was seen being beaten. The video clip was followed by another video clip from ABP News which mentioned that a BJP leader was beaten by people in Uttarakhand. During the investigation we found that the video is from 2018 and not recent.

Investigation:
We started the video by using Google keyword search. The news clip attached in the video mentioned that the incident took place in Uttarakhand.
We found the video uploaded on the website of ABP Live.
The video was uploaded on 8th October, 2018.
The description mentioned that the BJP leader Ashwini Arora was beaten up for molestation. He faced slippers and slaps by the wife of an IAS officer. She accused him of molesting her for days. She was frustrated and hence vent out her anger by beating him up.
The video was also uploaded on dailymotion.com six years ago.
We also found the video uploaded on the website of Amar Ujala in 2018.
We also found a report on the website of Times of India which reported that the BJP leader Ashwini Arora was suspended later.
Conclusion: Old video of the then Uttarakhand BJP leader Ashwini Arora being beaten up for molestation was shared as recent. Viral claims are misleading.
