Lighthouse Journalism came across a video of Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath being widely shared on social media platforms. In this video he was seen saying that the first right on the resources of the country is that of Muslims. You want to divide the country in the name of Muslim, non-muslim and in the name of minority and majority. It was claimed along with the video that the statement of the leader has changed after the Lok Sabha election results. During the investigation we found the claim to be false. The video being widely shared is a clipped video and that Yogi Adityanath was quoting former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.

Investigation:
We started the investigation by uploading the video in the InVid tool and obtaining several keyframes from the same. We then ran a reverse image search on the keyframes obtained from the video.
We also noticed the ‘Patrika Rajasthan’ watermark on this video.
We found a video of Yogi Adityanath uploaded by ANI on X (formerly Twitter), the background of which was very similar to the one being shared on social media platforms.
We then found a complete video of Yogi Adityanath on the YouTube channel of ANI.
At around 4 minutes he is seen quoting former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh. He says, “On whose suggestion did Manmohan Singh say that the first right on the resources of the country is that of the Muslims? You want to divide the country in the name of Muslims and non-Muslims and majority and minority”.
The video was uploaded a month ago and was titled: CM Yogi echoes PM Modi’s remark, blames Congress for creating divide b/w Muslims, non-Muslims
We also found the original video posted on the YouTube channel of Patrika Rajasthan. The text on the video says (translation): CM Yogi targets Congress and says they want to divide the country.
Conclusion: Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath did not say that Muslims have the first right on the resources of the country. Clipped video goes viral with false claims.
