Lighthouse Journalism came across a video of newly inducted cabinet minister Chirag Paswan where he was seen shooting in front of his father’s picture. His father was noted politician Ram Vilas Paswan from Bihar. During the investigation we found the video to be from 2020 and it has now resurfaced on the internet, post Lok Sabha elections with claims of it being recent.

Investigation:
We started the investigation by obtaining keyframes from the video and then ran a reverse image search on these frames.
Through this we found a news report on National Herald, which was published on 27th October 2020.
We found several news reports that mentioned that Chirag Paswan was rehearsing before offering condolences to his father.
We also found a video posted by Brut India on 29th October 2020, captioned: Chirag Paswan Slams Bihar CM On Leaked Video
The video was widely shared before Bihar elections. The video mentioned Chirag Paswan released counter video, blaming the chief minister Nitish Kumar for leak.
We found a news report on the same too.
The report mentioned: Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leader Chirag Paswan has blamed Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for leaking a video where he can be seen preparing to record a speech next to his father Ram Vilas Paswan’s garlanded photo. The video that was leaked just a day before the first day of polling in Bihar has gone viral.
