Lighthouse Journalism found a video being widely shared on social media platforms, featuring police personnel lathi charging people. It was being claimed along with the video that the video featured the Indian Army personnel lathi charging goons of Trinamool Congress in West Bengal.
During the investigation we found that the video was not from India but unrelated and from Bangladesh.
Claim:
X user Prarthana Singh shared the video with misleading claim.
Other users are also sharing the video with similar claim.

Investigation:
We started the investigation by obtaining keyframes from the video and ran a reverse image search on the same.
Reverse image search on one keyframe led us to a video posted by Chdnews24 early this year.

Translation of the caption said: Police arrested and threw away the agitator
The introduction of the channel where the video was posted said: “Bangladesh Government approved private IP television and multimedia news portal.”
The same video was shared on another Facebook page.

The caption said: The burning proof of whom you are working for how much the administration will heal the next election has shown again today. Dr. Younus Ki will have to reply to this, playing with the blood of July warriors will not be allowed to continue.
A video about the incident was also published by ANI on February 6, 2026.
A Google keyword search then led us to the news reports from the incident.

The news reports said: A protest march titled “March for Justice” began from Shahbagh in Dhaka this morning, demanding justice for the killing of Sharif Osman Hadi. The march began around 11:30am from Hadi Chattar in Shahbagh. Leaders said activists of Inqilab Moncho are participating in the march with 10 pickup vans and trucks.
Conclusion: Unrelated video from Bangladesh about protest demanding justice for killing of Sharif Osman Hadi now shared as recent ahead of West Bengal elections claiming to show Indian Army personnel lathi charging TMC goons. The viral claim is misleading.
