Lighthouse Journalism came across a video that was being widely circulated across different social media platforms. Several posts and forwards claimed that the clip was from Madhya Pradesh, and it was being shared as if it showed a real incident of a cloud burst.
However, during the investigation, we discovered that the video had not been shot in Madhya Pradesh, or anywhere at all. Instead, it was created using Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, making it entirely fabricated.
Claim:
YouTube channel Akram reaction shared the video.
Other social media users are also sharing the same video.
Investigation:
We started the investigation by running a reverse image search on the keyframes obtained from the video. The video was uploaded on several platforms.
We found the video posted on Instagram page, kandha_odysseys_vines on August 5.
The caption said; This is AI-generated + VFX touched fictional content for entertainment purposes only”.
We also ran the keyframes through AI image detector.
wasitai.com suggested that the keyframes were created using AI.
We ran the video through HIVE Moderation, which also concluded that the video likely contained AI-generated content.
Conclusion: The viral video showing cloud burst claimed to be from Madhya Pradesh is not real. The video is AI-generated.
