On August 11, 2025, the Supreme Court ordered that all stray dogs in Delhi-NCR be removed from the streets and shifted to new shelters within eight weeks, citing the fundamental right of citizens to move freely without fear of attacks.
Amidst this controversy, a video is being widely shared on social media platforms allegedly showing a dog shelter in India.
During the investigation, we found that the video is not from India but from Iraq.

Investigation:
We began the investigation by conducting a reverse image search after uploading the image to the InVid tool.
We found the video uploaded on several platforms. The text on the video stated that it is from Erbil, Iraq.
We found one more video showing it is from a dog shelter from Erbil in Iraq.

We also found the video uploaded on the Instagram handle, ‘Give me your voice’, ‘Ben N.C. Hoffmeister’ uploaded on March 10.

The video was uploaded months before the Supreme Court verdict.
