Video of donation box overflowing with money not from Ram Temple, Ayodhya, but from Shri Sanwariya Seth temple in Rajasthan. Viral claim is false.

Lighthouse Journalism came across a video being widely shared on social media websites claimed to be of a donation box from Ram Mandir which is overflowing with money after the recent consecration ceremony.

Upon investigation it was found that the video is not from Ram Temple but from Shri Sanwariya Seth Temple in Rajasthan.

Claim:

Twitter user Manisha shared the viral video on her profile.

Investigation:

We started our investigation by uploading the video in the InVid tool and obtaining some keyframes. We checked the ‘detailed view’ of the keyframes on the tool.

This led us to several pages, one was an Instagram page, ‘udaipurvlogz‘. The caption mentioned that the video was from ‘Shri Sawaliya Seth’.

The credit of the video was given to the page of the temple. The video originated from this page and the caption mentioned that a sum of 12 crores 69 lakh rupees was obtained from the donation box.

The video was uploaded on 16th January.

For more details we contacted Nand Kishor Tailor, administrative officer of the temple. He confirmed that the video is from Shri Sanwariya Seth temple in Rajasthan and that the video is from 10th January this year, when the donation box was opened.

Conclusion: Video of donation box overflowing with money not from Ram Temple, Ayodhya, but from Shri Sanwariya Seth temple in Rajasthan. Viral claim is false.
