During the investigation, we found that the video was not recent and was unrelated to the recent elections. The video instead shows the crowd gathered to pay their last respects to noted singer Zubeen Garg. The viral claim is misleading.
Claim:
An Instagram user, Sanatani Congress, shared the video on their profile with the misleading claim.
Other users also shared the video with a similar claim.
Investigation:
We started our investigation by running a reverse image search on the keyframes obtained from the viral video.
This led us to several posts.
The posts showed people paying their last respects to noted singer from Assam, Zubeen Garg.
The posts noted that the video featured Zubeen Garg’s funeral gathering.
The videos were posted in September.
The same visuals were posted by Instagram user Ishani Das on September 22.
Conclusion: An Old video showing a huge crowd gathered to pay the final respects to noted musician and singer Zubeen Garg is now being shared as recent from Bihar after the Assembly election results. The viral claim is misleading.
