Investigation:
We started the investigation of the video by uploading it to the InVid tool and extracting keyframes from the same. We then ran a reverse image search on the keyframes.
We found the video uploaded on a TikTok profile, ‘dr.vea’. The creator had labeled the video as ‘AI-generated’.

We checked the profile and found that the user posted AI-generated content.

We then ran the video through an AI detector. The results said, “The video is likely to contain AI-generated or deepfake content”.

Conclusion: The viral video allegedly showing a strange phenomenon in the Mediterranean Sea, such as water in the sea boiling and strange, gaping holes forming on the surface, is AI-generated. The viral video is fake.
