As fresh batches of court documents linked to Jeffrey Epstein continue to draw global attention, social media has been flooded with sensational claims about prominent political figures. In India, viral images circulating on X (formerly Twitter) and other platforms purport to show Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned in the “Epstein files.”
During the investigation and a closer investigtion, Lighthouse Journalism found that these visuals are not authentic court records but digitally manipulated, using Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools.
Claim:
X user MR. Anil shared a picture on his profile that featured Congress leader Rhul Gandhi.
X user Kaushik also shared an image claiming to show PM Narendra Modi being featured in the Epstein files.
Both these images were very similar.
Other social media users were also sharing the similar images on social media platforms.
Investigation:
We started our investigation by running a reverse image search on both the images simultaneously.
No credible news media website featured any of the images being shared on social media websites.
Lighthouse Journalism then ran both these images through AI detectors.
The image featuring Rahul Gandhi had a watermark on the bottom right side of the picture, suggesting it was made using AI.

We first ran the image featuring Rahul Gandhi through AI detectors.
Through Google Gemini SynthID we found: This image of Rahul Gandhi and Jeffrey Epstein is generated by AI. A technical analysis confirms that the image contains a digital watermark indicating it was created or edited using Google’s AI tools.
On the image featuring PM Narendra Modi, detectors suggested that the image is digitally edited.

Conclusion: Viral images purporting to show Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Epstein Files are digitally manipulated and AI-generated. The viral claim is false.
