Lighthouse Journalism found a video being widely shared on social media platforms. The video featured several bees swarming around a fuel tank of a motorcycle, while it was being filled with E85 fuel at a fuel pump.
During the investigation we found that the video is AI generated and not real.
Claim:
Instagram user Loktantra Voice shared the viral video on his profile.
Other users are also sharing the same video with similar claim.
Investigation:
We started the investigation by checking if any such incident was reported. We did not find any credible reports about the same.
We then ran the video through InVid tool and extracted the keyframes from the video.
On the keyframes a watermark was clearly visible on the bottom left corner, which suggested that the video could have been generated using Google Gemini.
We then ran the video through SynthID which is Google’s tool to watermark and identify AI-generated content.
After uploading the video to SnthID, it clearly gave the result, “made with Google AI (video)”.
Conclusion: Viral video showing bees swarming around E85 fuel as man refills the fuel tank is AI generated. The viral video is fake.
