We started the investigation by running a reverse image search on the keyframes obtained from the video. This led us to a video posted on X.
The caption with the video suggested that the video was from Bhiwandi.
We found similar video posted on other profiles.
A video of the same was also shared by ANI.
We also found a news report about the same.
The news report uploaded on 19 January mentioned: A major political clash broke out, and police resorted to a lathi-charge following an alleged life-threatening attack on the former mayor and Konark Vikas Aghadi’s victorious candidate, Vilas R Patil at his bungalow in Bhiwandi.
Conclusion: Old, unrelated video from Bhiwandi is being shared as recent claiming to show an attack on BJP workers over UGC regulations. The viral claim is misleading.
