Lighthouse Journalism found an image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi being shared ahead of elections in Kerala on 9 April. Along with the image it was claimed that a crew was conducting a professional photoshoot for PM Modi during his visit for a rally in Kerala.
During the investigation we found that the image was AI generated and not real. The viral claim is false.
Claim:
X user Alka Lamba shared the viral image on her timeline.
Other users are also sharing the same image with similar claims.
Investigation:
Several anomalies in the image suggest it is AI-generated.
The Google reverse image search did not yield any results.
We then ran the image through AI detectors.
HIVE Moderation suggested that the image was 99.9% likely to be AI-generated. The analysis also suggested that the image is 12% likely to be a deepfake.

Another AI detector, sightengine.com, also suggested that the image was 98% likely to be AI-generated.

Conclusion: The viral image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, widely shared with claims of a crew conducting a professional photoshoot during the Kerala election campaign is AI-generated. The viral claim is false.
