Lighthouse Journalism discovered a video being widely shared on social media platforms. In the video, a few people were seen wielding sticks and attacking a vehicle. It was claimed that the video was from Bihar, and that people were chasing away BJP leaders.
During the investigation, we found that the video was not from Bihar but from Jakarta in Indonesia.

Investigation:
We started the investigation by running a reverse image search on the keyframes obtained from the video.
We found a keyframe in an article on an Indonesian website uploaded on August 26, 2025.
The article said: The heated atmosphere of the demonstration in front of the DPR/MPR Building in Central Jakarta on Monday, August 25, 2025, turned tense. A State Civil Servant (ASN) with the initials BB nearly fell victim to the mob’s fury.
We also found the keyframes from the video in an article on haijakarta.id.
The article said: A luxury car allegedly belonging to an official has gone viral on social media and was damaged by demonstrators. A demonstration took place in front of the Indonesian House of Representatives building on Monday, August 25, 2025. While the demonstration was taking place, the crowd damaged a luxury car, which was suspected to belong to an official. A Hyundai Palisade car was destroyed after being hit by stones by demonstrators on Jalan Gatot Subroto, Senayan, Central Jakarta.
We also found the video on a YouTube channel and a news report about the incident on Waspada TV.
Conclusion: A video from Jakarta in Indonesia, where a state civil servant nearly fell victim to the mob’s fury, is being shared as recent from Bihar. The viral claim is misleading.
