Lighthouse Journalism found a video being widely shared on social media platforms after the India versus Pakistan Asia Cup match on 14th September, 2025.
The viral video shows ICC chairman Jay Shah seated alongside Indian MP Anurag Thakur and former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi. Users sharing the clip claimed it was captured during the recent 2025 Asia Cup.
During the investigation, we found the claim to be misleading. The viral video is old from the Champions Trophy and taken before the Pahlgam attack.

Other users are also sharing the video with a similar claim.
Investigation:
We started the investigation by running a reverse image search on the keyframes obtained from the video.
Through this, we found the same video uploaded on the Facebook page of PinkVilla on March 11.

The caption said: A rare moment! Jay Shah and Shahid Afridi share a light-hearted cricket moment together, and fans can’t stop talking about it.
We also found the video posted on Gmt News 2 Facebook page on 27th February.

We also found the video posted on Cricket Lovers Facebook page on 26th February.
These posts led Lighthouse Journalism to conclude that the video is from ICC Champions Trophy and not from the recent Asia Cup match.
Also, the Pahalgam terrorist attack on tourists in Jammu and Kashmir happened on 22nd April 2025. The video was taken before that.
Conclusion: An Old video showing ICC chairman Jay Shah seated alongside Indian MP Anurag Thakur and former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi was shared as recent after India vs Pakistan Asia Cup. The viral video of them sharing a moment is old and not recent. The viral claim is misleading.
