Fact check: Video showing a man receiving a facial massage falsely identified as PM Modi

Lighthouse Journalism found a video being widely shared in which a man is seen receiving a facial massage. It was claimed that the man in the video was Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

During the investigation, we found that the man seen in the video is not PM Modi. The viral claim is false.

Claim:

Facebook user Sita Ram Ranakoti shared the video with a false claim.

Other users are also sharing the same video with a similar claim.

Investigation:

We began the investigation by running a reverse image search on keyframes obtained from the video.

During the reverse image search, we found the video posted on Instagram user Pardeep Kaur Dhillon’s profile.

The person seen in the video is her husband, which we found through the hashtags used along with the other posts.

The same video was also found on her Facebook profile.

The content creator, Pardeep Dhillon, has shared several posts from the same location featuring her husband. She also used hashtags such as #CoupleReels for the video.

On her Instagram profile, the content creator also shared a video clarifying that the viral claims were false.

Conclusion: The viral video does not show Prime Minister Narendra Modi getting a facial massage. The man in the clip is the husband of a content creator. The claim circulating on social media is false.
