Lighthouse Journalism found a video being widely shared on social media platforms. The video claimed to show large-scale protests in Bihar after the results. It was claimed, along with the video, that people were out on the streets protesting the vote theft in the Bihar Assembly elections by the BJP.
During the investigation, we found that the video is old and unrelated. The viral claim is misleading.
Claim:
X user Manjeet Ghoshi shared the video on his profile.
Other users are also sharing the video with the same claim.
Investigation:
We started the investigation by running a reverse image search on the keyframes obtained from the video, eliminating the text in the video.
We found that the video was posted seven weeks ago on Instagram.

The caption suggested that the video was from Jaipur, Rajasthan. The text suggested that the huge crowd was supporters of Naresh Meena.
We found another Instagram user, Khushiram Gurjar, who had shared the video and tagged Naresh Meena in the video. The video was uploaded on September 25.

We also found a similar video posted on the Instagram handle of Naresh Meena on September 25.
The caption stated: Under the leadership of son Aniruddha to pay tribute to the children who died in the Jhalawad-Piplodi accident, we took out a ‘Huge Torch Procession’. The location mentioned was Jaipur.
We checked the profile of Naresh Meena, the bio mentioned that he is a politician and a former General Secretary of Rajasthan University.

Conclusion: Old video from September from Rajasthan is now being shared as recent from Bihar, as protests after the Bihar election results. The viral claim is misleading.
