The Cockroach Janata Party is leading widespread demonstrations demanding the resignation of India’s Chief election commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar and the immediate suspension of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

Following the initial shutdown of the October 10 demonstration at Jantar Mantar, on October 16, the group organized the ‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ (Wave the Tricolour) march. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke was released by a Delhi court on Saturday, October 17, however, on October 19, CJP legal head Ratna Singh reported significant delays in the bail hearings for co-convenors Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka.

Amidst these developments, a video is being widely shares on social media platforms. The video features garbage being dumped on the roads to thwart the protests by CJP. During the investigation we found that the viral video is old and related to a protest by sanitation workers. The viral claim is misleading.
