In the picture, users claimed it was a rare photo of Indira Gandhi having a drink with Yoga instructor Dhirendra Brahmachari. During our investigation, we found that the image is AI-generated and not real.
Claim:
X user Simple Man साधा माणूस shared the viral picture with the claim.
Other users are also sharing the image with a similar claim.
Investigation:
We started the investigation by searching news reports about the picture. However, we did not find any credible news reports. We also could not find any archival sources that corroborate the picture or the claim.
We then downloaded the image and ran it through AI detectors.
HIVE Moderation suggested that the image was 98.1% likely to be AI-generated.
Another tool suggested that it was made using OpenAI tools.
Another tool, idetect.org also suggested that the image is AI generated.
Conclusion: The viral image claiming to show former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi having a drink with yoga instructor Dhirendra Brahmachari is AI-generated and does not depict a genuine historical photograph. The viral image is fake and the claim is false.
