Lighthouse Journalism found a video being widely shared across social media platforms showing what appeared to be a classroom. In the video, a ceiling fan suddenly falls onto students seated on benches, leaving a few of them injured. Social media users claimed the incident took place at a school in New Delhi.
However, during the investigation we found the video is from Nepal, not New Delhi. The viral claim is misleading.
Claim:
X user @sh_anas01 shared the viral video on their profile with misleading claim.

Investigation:
We started our investigation by running a reverse image search on the keyframes obtained from the video.
We found that the same reel was uploaded on Instagram handle of “Vaartha Hindi.”
The caption of the video said: During a class at Siddhartha School in Birgunj, Nepal, a ceiling fan suddenly fell from the roof, injuring two Class 7 students. According to the school administration, both students received immediate medical treatment and are now in stable condition. The incident caused panic and commotion on the school premises.

The news report said: Three students were injured when a fan fell into a classroom at Siddhartha Secondary School in Pipara, Birgunj Metropolitan City.
Aman Pandit and Aryan Patel, both studying in class 7, were injured during the morning shift. Another student also sustained minor injuries, said school principal Vinod Mehta. At around 6:39 am, a fan suddenly fell on the student and hit his desk. There was a stampede in the classroom for some time after the incident.
According to the school administration, the injured students were immediately rescued and taken to Narayani Hospital after receiving first aid, as the teacher was present in the classroom at the time of the incident.
Conclusion: The viral video does show a ceiling fan falling inside a classroom and injuring students. However, the incident took place at Siddhartha Secondary School in Birgunj, Nepal, not at a school in Delhi or elsewhere in India. The viral claim is misleading.
